  6.        An operations manual is included with this release in the file
  7.   ICONMAN.WRI.  This file is in Windows Write format and has been
  8.   formatted for an HP LaserJet or PostScript printer.  Instructions are
  9.   included at the top of the file for printing on other printers.  We
  10.   apologize if you find that this format is not the most suitable for
  11.   your requirements.  Our goal is to produce the highest quality product
  12.   using the tools available to all users.  Using Windows Write provides
  13.   the sharpest hardcopy output with the most flexibility for user re-
  14.   formating.

  16.   This manual contains complete installation and operation information
  17.   as well as an educational overview of icon file types.  We suggest
  18.   that you take the time to print and review the manual to get the
  19.   best results and the most enjoyment from Icon Manager.

  21.   For the impatient folks that would like to jump right in, you can
  22.   simply copy all of the release files to your hard disk, preferably
  23.   into their own subdirectory such as "C:\ICONS".  An install utility
  24.   is included which can be executed with the format "INSTALL d: dir"
  25.   where "d:" is the drive to install to (remember to include the colon)
  26.   and "dir" is an optional sub-directory ("ICONS" will be used if "dir"
  27.   is not specified).

  29.   NOTE: This release may include several sample files containing icons
  30.         which have been collected on a major, international, electronic
  31.         data service.  Although some of these icons are derivatives or
  32.         enhancements of commercial program icons, it is not the intention
  33.         of Impact Software to distribute any material that its creator(s)
  34.         or legal owner(s) would object to.  We will immediately remove
  35.         any icon(s) which is brought to our attention as proprietary
  36.         in nature and should not be freely distributed.

  40.                                Update Notes
  41.  
  42.   The following changes have been made since release 1.0:
  43.  
  44.      -  A program error which wrote an icon library to another Icon
  45.         Manager filename the second time the library was saved has
  46.         been corrected.
  47.  
  48.      -  The screen re-painting logic has been enhanced to avoid as
  49.         much repainting as possible.  A considerable amount of re-
  50.         painting has been eliminated when an icon window is resized,
  51.         resulting in a significant performance improvement.

  53.      -  The re-sizing logic for icon Windows has been updated to allow
  54.         you to 'drag' a window open past its right and bottom bound-
  55.         aries.  This is much more convenient for finding space to
  56.         place new icons and also lends itself to a faster screen
  57.         repaint.

  59.      -  The icon library read routine has been modified to read icon
  60.         libraries created with ICONDLL2 without an Unrecoverable
  61.         Application Error occurring.  This was required because
  62.         the resource directory in ICONDLL2 icon libraries deviates
  63.         slightly from Microsoft's documented structure.

  65.      -  An additional feature in the Bitmap Tool's screen/inverse
  66.         color dialog now allows the viewing background color to be
  67.         changed by clicking any color button with the right mouse
  68.         button.

  70.      -  A correction has been made to insure that the user is
  71.         prompted and file saves are completed for any files which
  72.         have been changed before the program exits.
